Essex firefighters rescue baby fox with jar on head

A fox cub that had a jam jar stuck on its head has been rescued from the middle of a road by firefighters.

An Essex County Rescue and Fire Service crew were in a fire engine on the A1306 heading towards Lakeside when they spotted the fox.

The crew were able to catch the small vixen and remove the jar from her head.

She was then taken to a veterinary practice in Orsett where she was checked and fed, before she was released at a safe location.

The fire service described the outcome as "a very happy ending".
