Earlier Thursday, longtime NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III agreed to a new deal that could potentially spell the end of his football career.

Just a few hours ago, RGIII accepted a job to join ESPN as a college football and NFL in-game analyst. Initial details of his contract with ESPN did not highlight exactly what his new job would entail.

On Thursday afternoon, though, ESPN’s Adam Schefter detailed what the longtime quarterback will be covering for the Worldwide Leader.

“Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III has signed a multi-year deal to join ESPN as a college football/NFL analyst,” Schefter said. “Griffin III will call a weekly ESPN/ABC college game, and also contribute to ESPN’s coverage of the College Football Playoff, Super Bowl, and other major events.”

While RGII accepted the new position, he’s still leaving an open door back to the NFL if a team comes calling.

“ESPN has been great through this whole process and understanding that I still want to play,” Griffin said, per Joe Reedy of the Associated Press. “I still love the game. If that opportunity doesn’t come, I’ll be giving everything I have to ESPN and this process.”

He opened up on his new challenge as well.

“I think it’s a fun thing for me to be able to do a little bit of studio and call games. It’s a perfect situation,” Griffin said. “I am continuing to work out, stay ready and prepare for everything that could be coming in the future.”

Congratulations to RGIII on his new job!
