ESPN Analyst Predicts Who The Dallas Cowboys Next Coach Will Be

After failing to make the playoffs in his first year with the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Mike McCarthy could be on the hot seat if his team doesn’t improve in 2021.

But ESPN analyst Ryan Clark doesn’t believe that McCarthy can survive the season with anything less than a deep playoff run. On Friday’s edition of Get Up, Clark asserted that this will be McCarthy’s final year in Dallas unless he wins the NFC East and wins a playoff game.

Clark took it a step further though, predicting who the Cowboys will pick as their next head coach. He said he believes that recently-hired defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will be the head coach if McCarthy gets fired.

“If they don’t win the NFC East, if they don’t win a playoff game, Dan Quinn will be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys,” Clark said. “This will be Mike McCarthy’s last year.”

It’s a hot take from Ryan Clark for sure. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has historically shown patience with his head coaches, only firing one (Chan Gailey) after just two seasons.

But it’s very likely that Jones won’t be nearly as patient with a coach in Mike McCarthy who was seen as a win-now coach for his win-now roster.

McCarthy won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers in 2010, but he had Aaron Rodgers for his entire stint in Green Bay.

Dan Quinn is at least a defensive guru who can conceivably make the team’s porous defense better on top of everything else.

Will this be Mike McCarthy’s last year in Dallas? And will Dan Quinn be the man to take his place if he’s fired?
