ESPN’s Adam Schefter Has Concerning Injury Update For Cowboys QB Dak Prescott
ESPN insider Adam Schefter dropped a bombshell report regarding Dak Prescott during last night’s halftime show for the Cardinals-Chiefs game, and it should have Dallas Cowboys awfully concerned heading into Week 1.
Schefter isn’t so sure that Prescott will be at full strength this season because of his lingering shoulder injury. During ESPN’s broadcast, Schefter said “He’s not fully back, he may not be back all season long.”
The timing of this report from Schefter is quite interesting. Earlier this week, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy hinted that Prescott’s workload at practice would ramp up in the coming days.
“To be honest with you, we’re just trusting the training staff on this one. They’re counting every throw,” McCarthy said. “This is a volume regulation, endurance. There’s a big-picture outlook to this. He’ll definitely be involved in some form of practice more than this week. To stand here and tell you he’d be full go and take all the reps, I’m not there yet.”
It’s very possible that Prescott will just play through the pain this season. But if he’s not “fully back,” why increase his workload and place more stress on his shoulder?

With the Cowboys’ season opener just a few weeks away, the clock is ticking for the coaching staff to make a decision on Prescott.
At this time, it doesn’t sound like Prescott is going to miss Dallas’ Week 1 showdown against Tampa Bay. Whether or not he’ll be effective is a different story.
