Erie man killed, Union City man injured in head-on crash in Greene Township

The Pennsylvania State Police continued their investigation Wednesday into a two-vehicle crash in Greene Township on Tuesday afternoon that killed one driver and seriously injured the other motorist.

The accident was reported Tuesday at about 3:15 p.m. in the 9700 block of Lake Pleasant Road, between Sampson and Mark roads.

According to state police, a Subaru Legacy that was traveling north on Lake Pleasant Road went into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a southbound Ford F-150.

The driver of the Subaru, identified by state police as Mark McNaughton, 44, of Erie, was taken by Perry Hi-Way Hose Co. to UPMC Hamot, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room at 3:58 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Erie County Coroner's Office.

The driver of the Ford, a 63-year-old Union City man, was taken by EmergyCare to UPMC Hamot for treatment of what state police said were severe injuries. Information on the man's condition was not available Wednesday morning.
