The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has issued a weather watch from Sunday to Tuesday because of forecast high temperatures and the possibility of lower reserves.

An ERCOT weather watch is an advance notification of significant forecast weather with high demand.

ERCOT said in a news release Friday that conditions are expected to be normal during the weather watch, but people are urged to monitor the grid updates.

“ERCOT continues to monitor conditions closely and will deploy all available tools to manage the grid and will continue our reliability-first approach to operations,’ according to the news release.

ERCOT set an unofficial peak demand record on Thursday, and the six-day supply and demand dashboard shows the possibility of another record next week.

The dashboards update in real time.

Last year, ERCOT set 11 peak demand records.

ERCOT encourages people to sign up for grid condition alerts through the Texas Advisory/Notification System.
