Entries for 'I Love My Library' contest are on display at Dalton library branch

Twenty children recently explained why “I Love My Library!” in a National Library Month promotion sponsored in April by Dalton Friends of the Wayne County Public Library. All 20 entries are on display at the library.

Three entrants received gift cards for the Dalton Dariette. They are:

Audrey Soehnlen, daughter of Michael and Erica Soehnlen, illustrated her praise for the "really nice" library staff at the library where they "always have good books."

  • Elliana Combs, 9, daughter of Liz and Joe Combs. Completing third grade at Dalton Elementary School this spring, she loves reading and going to the library.

  • Audrey Soehnlen, 9, daughter of Erica and Michael Soehnlen. Also completing third grade at Dalton, she is an avid reader and loves spelling.

  • Amelia Shetler, 4, daughter of Marilyn and Delon Shetler. The Bright Beginnings preschooler was captivated by the baby chicks that hatched in April at the library (livestreamed on a webcam) and then stayed for for a few days before continuing life on a farm.

Baby chicks will make another visit when Dalton FOL sponsors a farm animal event in the library’s south parking lot on 3-5 p.m. Monday, June 3.

Children can meet (and touch) farm animals including a chick, a duck, a turkey, and even an animal whose coat could become a sweater.

Advance registration is required by calling the library at 330-828-8486.
