Entries for the Kentucky State Fair are open. Here are the categories, deadlines to enter

The entries for the different exhibitions of the Kentucky State Fair are open for those who wish to compete.

The Kentucky State Fair will take place from Aug. 15-25 at the Kentucky Exposition Center, 937 Phillips Lane. The 10-day event is celebrated annually and features animals, food, entertainment and fun rides.

The regular deadline for all of the categories is July 10, although some categories have a late deadline option of July 17. The entries that do not have a late deadline are Junior Livestock and Poultry and Pigeons & Rabbits, fair spokesperson Lexie Ratterman told The Courier Journal.

A full schedule of fees and other information regarding the exhibits are in the Kentucky State Fair Premium Book. Entries made during the late deadline will incur additional costs, Ratterman said.

"Fees depend on the entry," she said. "For example, our livestock fees are a little more expensive."

  • Kentucky Country Ham

  • Egg show

  • Field, seed and grain

  • Fruits and nuts

  • Vegetables and melons

  • Tobacco
