Phil Mickelson got into a tiff with country star Jake Owen at Jordan Spieth's wedding: 'Go f--k yourself!'

Phil Mickelson got into a verbal altercation with a country star at Jordan Spieth's wedding.

Jake Owen revealed the tiff during Barstool's "ForePlay" podcast this week, saying that he confronted the all-time great golfer at his pal's November nuptials over his pay-per-view golf match against Tiger Woods, which had happened the day before.

"I did give Phil Mickelson a lot of sh-t, though, at Jordan Spieth's wedding," Owen started. "Jordan got married in November and Phil was there, and it was the day after he played Tiger. I had a few cocktails and, uh, I saw him across the room and I was like, 'I gotta go tell this guy what I think.'"

"I walked over him and I was like, 'Phil, you owe my f--king $29.99,'" he went on. "I was like, 'For wasting four hours my life with the sh---iest golf I've ever seen! You guys hype this whole thing up about this big match? You guys couldn't even make three birdies between the two of you?' I'm like, 'I want my $29.99 back and f--king apologize to me for some sh---y golf.'"

Mickelson wasn't going to take the criticism laying down, so he let his money do (most of) the talking.

"He pulls out a wad out of his [pocket] and he grabs a hundred -- like, a hundred-dollar bill -- and he's like, 'Yeah, I won 90,000 of these yesterday,'" Owen continued. "He goes, 'Take a 100 and go f--k yourself!'"

When the podcast hosts expressed disbelief about his tale, Owen doubled down and said, "Right to my face! I swear."

As remarkable and unbelievable as the story sounds, Mickelson actually responded to a tweet containing a video of Owen's BarStool interview and simply wrote, "True story," around with a smiley face.

Guess we can take this as a lesson -- don't mess with Phil Mickelson.
