Nielsen Streaming Top 10: ‘The Boys’ Finishes Season 4 Strong, Jumping to No. 1 With 1.3 Billion Minutes Watched

“The Boys” achieved its best one-week viewership ever with the release of its Season 4 finale. Amazon Prime Video’s superhero satire reached 1.3 billion minutes watched during the July 15-21 viewing window, during which the finale was available for four days.

Along with beating its own personal best — and claiming the No. 1 spot on the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for the first time — “The Boys” also enjoyed its eighth week at more than 1 billion minutes watched and its 20th week on the Top 10, which are both records for Amazon titles.

In the No. 2 position was “House of the Dragon,” which had its fifth consecutive week past the 1 billion mark, this time notching 1.1 billion minutes streamed. This is especially impressive given that the series airs on HBO’s linear channel, meaning that a chunk of its viewership isn’t accounted for on the chart. Nielsen notes that the series was most popular among viewers age 35-49 during this viewing window.

“Cobra Kai” returned to the chart this week with the debut of its sixth season. In the first four days of availability of the season’s first five episode, the “Karate Kid”-based comedy hit just under 1.1 billion minutes watched. This is only the beginning of the season’s run; Netflix will release another batch of episodes in November and a final batch in 2025, so it can be expected that “Cobra Kai” Season 6 viewership will have a long tail.

The U.S. version of “Love Island” continues to have a banner year, also hitting just under 1.1 billion minutes watched across Peacock, Netflix and Hulu during this viewing window, which marked the release of six new Season 6 episodes.

Much of the rest of the chart was dominated by regular suspects: “Bluey” (No. 5 with 1 billion minutes watched), “Family Guy” (No. 6 with 989 million), “Grey’s Anatomy” (No. 7 with 965 million) and “Suits” (No. 9 with 850 million). But two movies grabbed slots with their Netflix debuts following previous theatrical releases: “Trolls Band Together,” which was watched for 937 million minutes, and “Land of Bad,” which was watched for 848 million.
