Kendall Jenner roasted for over-hyped reveal of 'brave' acne commercial

That was her big announcement?

After much hype from her mother, Kris Jenner, teasing a "brave and vulnerable" announcement, Kendall Jenner debuted her partnership with Proactiv with a commercial that premiered during E!'s red carpet coverage at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night.

"I'm so proud of my darling @KendallJenner for being so brave and vulnerable," Kris tweeted on Saturday. "Seeing you share her most raw story in order to make a positive impact for so many people and help foster a positive dialogue is a testament to the incredible woman you've become."

"Make sure to watch @KendallJenner's Twitter on Sunday night to find out what I'm talking about and be prepared to be moved," she added in another tweet.

In the commercial, Kendall recounts her appearance at last year's Golden Globes, during which she was made fun of online for having acne.

"I remember last year I was at an awards show and I was very excited about it -- I had never been before -- and I remember getting ready that day, getting my makeup done. I got on the carpet and I felt really good about myself. I loved my dress and my hair and my makeup was so beautiful," she explains. "Then I remember going online and seeing all the horrible things people were saying about me and my skin."

"I felt so good that I completely forgot that I have bad skin," she went on. "Then I remember getting a couple tweets that became a lot of tweets of how proud people were of me. I was like, 'Oh wait, this is actually kinda cool because it completely flipped my energy on it. But at the same time, I do want it gone.' For me, I can honestly say that the magic was Proactiv."

"It's a huge deal that I'm partnering with Proactiv," she added. "I'm hoping that I can help people and show people that this is the way that I got clear, and that hopefully this is the way that you can get clear."

Of course, after such intense hype around what Kendall would be revealing, people expressed their disappointment online when it ended up being a brand partnership.

"Can we all take a moment to thank God that Kendall Jenner found the strength to admit she has ... ACNE?" one person wrote sarcastically. "How much must one family bear?"

"So Kendall Jenner's announcement was that she was partnering with [Proactiv]?" another person tweeted. "I can't breathe."
