Former University of Akron center Enrique Freeman left a legacy and impression on the Mid-American Conference.

He will at least get the opportunity to gain a foothold at the next level.

After impressing in the G League Elite Camp, Freeman, was one of five camp attendees to receive an invitation to the NBA combine in Chicago Monday at Wintrust Arena.

Prospects participate in drills and competition. Get medical exams and conduct interviews with NBA teams. Freeman, a standout at UA who earned MAC Player of the Year honors this past season, is likely viewed as a borderline draft pick in the NBA’s two-round version.

That’s not to diminish his accomplishments because it gives him the opportunity to grab the attention of some team executive somewhere. The Elite Camp does have a record of success having produced current NBA players Terance Mann (LA Clippers), the New Orleans Pelicans’ Jose Alvarado and a more familiar name in Max Strus of the Cavs.
