The Enola Holmes franchise will live on.

Just over a year after the second movie hit Netflix, the streamer's Head of Film, Scott Stuber, has confirmed that the third Enola Holmes film is in development.

Speaking to Collider, Stuber said that the screenplay is in the works and that Netflix is excited to continue the character's story with actress Millie Bobby Brown.

"The Holmes IP is weirdly elastic. Obviously, Warner Bros did an incredible job with [Robert] Downey [Jr] and Jude Law, so this idea that we can extend that IP with her is exciting," Stuber said.

"So, we're working once again on a screenplay to try to get that. But yes, aspiration. I'd like to do another one."

Stuber also praised Millie as "a great homegrown star" for Netflix, saying: "I mean, obviously, Stranger Things is huge for us in that, and watching her grow as an actress.

"We have a film called Damsel with her in the spring, which I'm really excited about, [from] Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Then, getting that character right."

Millie, who's also a producer of the Enola Holmes film series, told ScreenRant last November that she wants to continue the character's story.

"I would love to be a part of another one," she said. "I would love to see her do more cases, be put under pressure, be put in crazy situations, make her feel vulnerable again. I absolutely love seeing her back at work."

The franchise has been a huge hit for Netflix — which surprised even Millie, who had resonated with her character's story.

"I thought: 'There's so much potential here.' But I didn't realise how much potential," she said ahead of the second film's release.

"People like Blake Lively messaged me, saying: 'My daughter wants to be Enola Holmes.' It started to sink in how much it resonated with everyone else."

Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2 are available to watch now on Netflix.
