High school and college students play basketball March 15 at V.E. Macy Park in Ardsley. The 172-acre county park has ballfields, a playground, green space for picnics and a pavilion.

Owner Tom Vitkowski shows some of the Lionel O gauge model trains they carry at Tom's Trains in Ardsley. Vitkowski, who has had a passion for train layouts since he was a kid, opened the shop in 1997. In addition to Lionel model trains, they carry Thomas & Friends and Brio wooden trains.

The Playing Mantis rehearse March 18 with an instructor at RiverRock Music School in Ardsley. The pop rock band, made up of 9- to 10-year-olds, rehearse for 90 minutes once a week. The school has a culminating showcase in June with 15 kid bands and three adult bands at the Saw Mill Tavern in Ardsley.

Librarian Peggy Mechmann weeds books March 12 to make room for new books at Ardsley Public Library. The library offers programs for kids from six months old up to seniors, both in person and over Zoom; and has audiobooks, ebooks and Playways for library patrons.

Chess master Furqan Tanwir guides students in a game during the chess program March 19 at the Thelma Zimmer-William Van Dorn Youth & Community Center in Ardsley. Tanwir, who started the program in 2010, said some of his students have become national champions.

Instructor Priscilla Novielli leads an after school clay class where the students sculpt and paint a rainbow at Honest Art in Ardsley. The studio offers art classes, camps, parties, after-school programs as well as paint-your-own pottery and candle making.

A man walks by the Ardsley mile marker March 19 on the South County Trailway. The approximately 14-mile path stretches from Bronx's Van Cortlandt Park to Tarrytown Lakes Park in Greenburgh, where it connects to the North County Trailway.
