English Premier League betting: Manchester City is an overwhelming title favorite

You’re not going to get much of a return on betting Manchester City to win the EPL title anytime soon.

Man City is currently at -700 at BetMGM to win the Premier League title while title challenger Liverpool is at +450. City is tied atop the Premier League standings with Liverpool after the Reds beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Tuesday. City has a game in hand on Liverpool and plays Wolves Wednesday afternoon (3:15 p.m. ET, USA) to potentially move back ahead by three points.

If City beats Wolves on Wednesday — and it’s -375 to do so — its odds for the title will only get shorter with two games to go. Not only would Man City have a three-point lead on Liverpool, it will also have at least a four-goal lead in goal difference. That’s the first tiebreaker.

Liverpool is going for what would be a historic quadruple. The Reds have already won the Carabao Cup and are set to play Chelsea on Sunday for the FA Cup title and Real Madrid for the Champions League title at the end of May. While the league title is by far the longest shot for Liverpool, it’s guaranteed to play as many games as it could feasibly compete in over the course of the 2021-22 season.

After playing eighth-place Wolves on Wednesday, City has seventh-place West Ham on the road and 11th-place Aston Villa at home to end the season. Liverpool has 15th-place Southampton on May 17 before ending the season with a game against Wolves.

Arsenal favored to get final Champions League spot

The top four teams in the Premier League automatically earn spots in next season’s Champions League. And City and Liverpool have already clinched two of those spots.

Chelsea is third and a staggering -5000 to finish in the top four. It’ll take a monumental collapse for the Blues to fall out of the top four. Arsenal is in fourth ahead of a massive game against Tottenham on Thursday and is -350 to finish in the top four while Spurs are at +220.

Arsenal has 66 points and is a point back of Chelsea and four points ahead of Tottenham with three games to play. A Tottenham win on Thursday leaves Spurs still a point back of Arsenal with easily winnable games against relegation candidate Burnley and already-relegated Norwich City. But Arsenal has Newcastle and relegation candidate Everton on its schedule. Neither of those teams are in the top half of the table. The Gunners will be heavily favored in its final games too.

Tottenham is favored to win on Thursday too. Spurs are at +115 to win while Arsenal is at +230. A draw — a good result for Arsenal because it keeps the Gunners four points up — is at +250.
