England's T20 match against Pakistan abandoned because of rain

LEEDS, England (AP) — England's T20 match against Pakistan was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Wednesday because of rain at Headingley

The teams are using the four-match series as a warmup to the T20 World Cup taking place next month in the West Indies and United States. England is the defending champion.

The abandonment was unfortunate for England fast bowler Jofra Archer, who needs game time to prove his fitness after a long injury layoff.

The series continues at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Saturday before games next week in Cardiff and at the Oval in London.

England opens its T20 World Cup campaign against Scotland on June 4, while Pakistan begins against the United States on June 6.
