Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are currently filming the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us, and people have been fully spiraling about Blake’s outfits. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves!

Obviously, interesting choices are being made when it comes to outfitting Blake’s character, Lily, but Hoover isn’t worried about backlash and actually “loves” the conversation online.

“I don’t remember describing outfits at all. I don’t care what they have on. In my head, it’s about the conversation they’re having and the story. It’s the same way in the movie,” she said, according to Today. “You’ve seen a couple of outfits that are completely out of context. I’m not worried about it.”

Hoover also addressed backlash to Blake and Justin being older than their book counterparts, explaining that she had to age the characters up. “Back when I wrote It Ends With Us, the new adult [genre] was very popular,” she said. “You were writing college-age characters. That’s what I was contracted to do. I didn’t know that neurosurgeons went to school for 50 years. There’s not a 20something neurosurgeon. As I started making this movie, I’m like, ‘We need to age them out because I messed up.’ So that’s my fault.”

In case you haven’t read It Ends With Us, here’s the official synopsis of the book:

“Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

“Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his ‘no dating’ rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

“As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.”
