Emmerdale star Eden Taylor-Draper explains Belle and Tom's terrifying new scenes

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Eden Taylor-Draper has opened up about Belle and Tom King's terrifying new scenes.

The pair will take centre stage next week in a special episode alongside Marlon and Rhona, as a dinner party descends into chaos and viewers see different perspectives on what's really going on in the two relationships.

"In the first scene you see all of the groups arriving and you think everything's great?" Eden explained.

"It kind of continues that way and you see snippets of them as a group and then at different points throughout the episode you see the reality of what’s happening behind closed doors.

"The perspective of those at the dinner party are completely different to what's happening in reality. It's very much like everyone's putting on a show in front of their friends, and then the audience becomes a fly on the wall and you see the reality of everyone's individual scenarios.

"It's so interesting because we've not really done this before so it was cool to film. I'm looking forward to seeing how it comes together and how it looks when it’s packaged together."

Eden added that "this episode is such a representation" of the couple, as pressure is put on Belle by Tom to cook for everyone, her husband warning her that his career is on the line.

"Belle has never cooked for this many people and their house is tiny but he tells her to deal with it," she said. "So Belle's left just thinking this is all on me. She wants to make it perfect and she’s definitely feeling the pressure.

"I think you can expect to see everything escalate throughout the episode. You'll see how easily Tom can switch on and off and how he truly feels and his anger towards Belle. You'll get a glimpse into Belle's terrifying reality."

Asked if Belle is aware of Tom's abuse at this point, Eden explained: "He's so good at turning it on her and I think when that's being drilled into her constantly, every day for everything, it's easy for her to believe that she’s the one at fault."

The star went on to reveal that the storyline has had an impact on viewers, noting that fans have reached out, which "is a great sign that everything is resonating in some way".

"So many people go through this and I’m really grateful that I’ve been able to play out Belle’s story," Eden added. "We’ve worked with charities and people that have gone through this and it’s important that what we’re portraying is real."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
