Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has cast Waterloo Road's Osian Morgan for a new Samson Dingle storyline.

The actor famously played the role of Myles Massey in the BBC soap, and it looks like his Emmerdale character will be stirring trouble in the Dales.

According to The Sun, Morgan's new character will befriend Samson as they plan a trip to Europe, much to the anger of Lydia and Sam, while also causing chaos in the village.

The actor's first scenes are due to air in the coming weeks and throughout the summer.

The storyline comes after it was recently reported that Samson actor Sam Hall will exit the soap after 15 years, with rumours circulating that the character would be killed off.

However, Sam later clarified that Samson wouldn’t die, while also teasing some of his storylines ahead.

"Well, I don't want to give too much away, but Samson has some really big stuff coming up," he told Inside Soap. "However, don't worry, as he's definitely not being killed off!

"There are some good stories coming up for him, and I was very excited when I read the scripts."

Sam also admitted he enjoys playing the "mean" side of Samson, even while his "good side" tends to shine through.

"Like with the baby storyline, he was worrying about Amelia being okay for Esther because Samson obviously lost his mum [Alice Dingle] – and he didn't want his kid to grow up without a mum.

"So, he can get angry, but his intentions are always right in the end," he added.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
