Elmo Is Hosting “The Not Too Late Show” on HBO for Kids

HBO certainly isn’t known for its family-friendly programs. Shows like Game of Thrones, Euphoria, Westworld, Barry and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver are all great… for adults. Plunking a little one down in front of the TV during the Battle of Winterfell? Not a good idea.

But wait! With the introduction of a new show featuring Elmo, the network is adding a kid-friendly option, and we bet you’ll love it Here’s what to expect from The Not Too Late Show with Elmo.

HBO’s Making an Elmo Show?!

Yes! The Not Too-Late Show with Elmo takes cues from other late-night talk shows and brings in celebrity guests for Elmo to interview; the current lineup includes the Jonas Brothers, John Mulaney, Blake Lively, Josh Groban, Sara Bareilles and more.

Each episode is themed around some kind of nighttime ritual—like brushing teeth or putting on pajamas. Of course, there’s also singing involved, and a bedtime story, and Elmo’s friends serve as backstage helpers and directors. Technically, Elmo’s the host, while Cookie Monster is the cohost and Rosita is the stage manager.

If you’re really in need of a quarantine boredom-buster, sift through these treat ideas to make with kids.

Here’s How to Watch

The show will be on HBO Max, the network’s new streaming service, starting May 27. The nice thing about streaming? You can watch this show whenever it’s needed—the kids won’t ask to stay up until a specific time to watch their new favorite show. (Thank you, HBO.)

There’s no word, currently, on how frequently new episodes will be released. When they premiere, you’ll be able to find them on HBO Max!
