Ellen DeGeneres Honors Late Stephen 'tWitch' Boss on His Birthday

Ellen DeGeneres is remembering her late friend and colleague on what would have been his 41st birthday.

Stephen "tWitch" Boss, the beloved dancer and Ellen show DJ, died at the age of 40 in December 2022, and now DeGeneres, 65, is doing her best to keep his memory alive.

"Happy birthday, tWitch," she wrote on Instagram Friday, Sept. 29, alongside a smiling selfie of the dynamic duo. "I love you and I always will."

The So You Think You Can Dance alum joined The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a guest DJ in 2014. He went on to become the show's permanent DJ, as well as a frequent sidekick for DeGeneres. In 2020, he was named an executive producer, and remained with the show until its end in 2022.

Boss' sudden death occurred on Dec. 13 of last year, with his cause of death being ruled as a suicide soon after.

At the time, his wife, Allison Holker Boss, confirmed that Boss had been struggling with his mental health up until his passing. The married couple shared three children together: Weslie, 15, Maddox, 7, and Zaia, 3.

Following the initial news of Boss' death, DeGeneres spoke out on social media to say that she was "heartbroken" over the loss of her friend.

"tWitch was pure love and light," she wrote at the time. "He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart."

"I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children - Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia," she concluded.
