Elite to End With Season 8 at Netflix

Class will soon be permanently dismissed on Elite.

Netflix on Wednesday announced via its myriad socials that the Spanish teen drama’s upcoming eighth season will be its last. The somewhat offhanded declaration comes just two days before Elite Season 7 drops.

“We ended on a high note,” series creator Carlos Montero shared Wednesday at a Season 7 press event in Spain. “Jaime [Vaca, co-showrunner for Season 7], Netflix and I thought it was time to end it. I say this with great regret because it’s been several incredible years in which I’ve met wonderful actors, we’ve worked with all the directors we wanted to work with… Élite changed everyone’s life.”

In announcing Elite‘s Season 8 pickup back in July, Netflix made no mention of its being the final season. The streamer did, however, confirm at the time that Mina el Hammani, who played Nadia during the show’s first three seasons, will reprise her role in Season 8.

El Hammani isn’t the only Elite OG revisiting the high school-set soap.

As previously reported, el Hammani’s TV brother Omar Ayuso, who portrayed Omar during Seasons 1-5, is back for Season 7. Viewers will also see more of Nico’s fling Sonia (Nadia Al Saidi), who recurred in Season 6. They’ll be joined by new additions Mirela Balic (Zorras), Fernando Líndez (SKAM), Gleb Abrosimov, Iván Mendes (Estoy vivo), Alejandro Albarracín (+ de 100 mentiras) and Maribel Verdú (Now & Then), as well as trilingual singer Anitta. Leo Sbaraglia will play Isadora’s father. (Watch a moody teaser for Season 7 here.)

Elite‘s eighth and final season is slated to bow sometime in 2024.
