Who Was Eliminated in 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Season 16 Episode 4?

After dear old Hershii LiqCour-Jete was sent packing last week after a poor performance in the ball challenge, the remaining 13 queens returned for a new day in the Werk Room. Also returning was RDR Live!, an oddly named challenge that made its first appearance last summer in All Stars Season 8, where the queens basically put on a version of SNL complete with a host, cold open and Weekend Update. (Producers must have settled on "RDR Live!" to avoid confusion with the Vegas show called "RuPaul's Drag Race Live" but it's so weird because generally the show uses RPDR as its acronym. Also if you're playing off of SNL, it should just be "DRL" for "Drag Race Live" because no one calls SNL "SN Live" but anyway I digress.)

The 13 remaining queens divvied up parts, performed their skits (in a single take) and then were off to the runway for Night of a Thousand Chers and the second elimination of the season.

Here's everything that went down on Season 16, Episode 4:

Who was eliminated in the RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16 Episode 4?

Mirage

In a slightly convoluted (and seemingly heavily produced) series of events this week, one of the season's most talented dancers and would-be lip sync assassin, Mirage was sent home well before she should have been.

To trace this catastrophe back to its origin, the week's challenge was the aforementioned SNL-style skit show with the 13 queens quibbling over who would take what role. Mirage ended up nabbing the host's spot, which she initially chose because she wanted to avoid playing a character, but then second-guessed due to the prominence of the role.

When we later witnessed "RDR Live" in its entirety, the whole thing largely fell flat with the queens adding over-exaggerated facial expressions to spectacularly mediocre writing. (A skit that calls Lindsay Graham gay? How original!) Sure, some queens felt a little more natural than others, but due to the ho-hum material they were given and a piped in laugh track, I found it near impossible to differentiate the performances. Everything seemed very average and other than stumbling over her words, Mirage seemed in line with everyone else imho.

Moving on to the runway, the queens recreated Cher looks, and it's here that the judges really went out of their way to clock Mirage, who looked stunning in a purple, feathery number. In the critiques, Ru seemed fixated on the fact that the hair was from a different decade than the dress, despite the fact that historical accuracy has never been a judging criteria on the show.

Mirage was then put in the bottom two over Mhi'ya Iman LePaige, who has performed poorly three weeks in a row, up against Geneva Karr, who was also in the bottom last week and this week didn't even bother to figure out who Lindsay Graham was despite playing him in the skit!

Despite giving a mesmerizing performance, Mirage was finally sent home for not knowing the words to Cher's "Dark Lady" well enough. Mirage's early exit brought the week's bizarre episode to a fizzling conclusion, and makes me wary of what's to come this season, especially after all kinds of weird production shenanigans that took place on All Stars 8.

Who won Episode 4 of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16?

Plasma
MTV

Plasma

On the flip side of things, Plasma secured her first win of the season in an episode that felt tailor-made to her skill sets. The old-timey Broadway queen gets to play Barbra Streisand and dress as Cher in one episode? Of course she's going to win. While I don't begrudge Plasma the win, I will say, however, that in a week where most of the skit performances were average and most of the runways well executed, that she didn't stand out to me in the way the judges were raving about.

Which queens have immunity?

Sapphira Cristal and Plane Jane secured immunity during the season's premiere and for the second week in a row they have both felt safe enough pre-critiques not to use the immunity.

Which queens are left on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16?

We're four episodes in, and we're down two queens. Twelve, however, remain in the hunt for the win. They are:

Amanda Tori Meating
Dawn
Geneva Karr
Megami
Mhi'ya Iman Le'Paige
Morphine Love Dion
Nymphia Wind
Plane Jane
Plasma

Sapphira Cristal
Xunami Muse
