Elderly woman critically injured in hit-and-run while crossing the street in Kansas City

An elderly woman was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night while crossing the street in Kansas City.

Police said the woman was crossing Bennington Avenue around 7:20 p.m., when a red unknown vehicle traveling northbound struck her and fled the scene.

The woman was taken to a hospital with critical injuries and is currently in critical condition.

An investigation is ongoing.
