Eighth Street home suffers substantial damage in overnight fire

LANSING — A home in the 300 block of South Eighth Street suffered substantial damage early Tuesday from a fire, the Lansing Fire Department said.

No injuries were reported, but the LFD said the house at 317 S. Eighth St. suffered about $100,000 in damage in the fire just before 1 a.m. today.

"Engine 41 and Battalion 41 arrived on scene, (and found) heavy fire from the windows and doors on the C and D sides of the structure," the LFD said in a press release. "Engine 41 pulled a hand line and knocked down the bulk of the fire from the exterior. E41 transitioned to an interior attack and continued to knock down fire."

Fire fighters were able to extinguish the fire within about an hour, the release said.
