Edinson Volquez shares a video tribute to Royals’ 2015 World Series championship team

Right-hander Edinson Vólquez’s two starts in the 2015 World Series served as bookends for the five-game series.

Vólquez started Game 1, and he allowed three runs on six hits to the Mets. That game is largely remembered by Royals fans for Alex Gordon’s game-tying home run in the ninth inning or maybe Alcides Escobar’s inside-the-park homer in the first inning.

The Royals won 5-4 in 14 innings.

Three runs allowed in six innings is a quality start, which is incredible considering Vólquez learned his father, Daniel, had passed away before he took the mound, as ESPN noted (although some reported it was after his start).

Vólquez left the Royals and attended his father’s funeral. He returned to start Game 5, which the Royals won 7-2 in 12 innings. Vólquez allowed two runs (one earned) in six innings in the amazing outing.
