Eclectic band Brave Combo highlights free concert event at Arlington’s Levitt Pavilion
Legendary band Brave Combo kicks off the fall concert season at Levitt Pavilion in Arlington when they take the stage Friday, Sept. 8.
Brave Combo, the Denton-based quintet that has been rocking around since 1979, combines salsa, meringue, polka, zydeco, classical, blues and many other musical styles.
Brave Combo’s catalog ranges from Japanese pop to Latin American dance tunes, orchestral classics to rock and roll. The group has won two Grammy Awards among seven nominations.
Talented Dallas acoustic artist Tito Strange, who blends elements of funk, Latin rock and soul, will rev things up for the crowd at 7 p.m. followed by Brave Combo at 8 p.m.
Friday’s performance is free with open seating available on the lawn. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Food and coolers with beverages, including alcohol, are allowed with the exception of glass containers. Parking is also free.
On Saturday, Kelley Mickwee opens for legendary Texas singer-songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard starting at 7 p.m. in another free concert at Levitt.

TMS event features vintage, modern muscle cars
Come check out more than 2,500 Mopar muscle cars or even bring one of your own to the WAM2022 event at Texas Motor Speedway, Sept. 2-4.
The three-day extravaganza over Labor Day weekend features classic and modern Mopars from all over the country.
Activities include a Friday Night Lights Garage edition, judging competitions, Laps 4 Vets, burnout competition, awards show and a special Mopar Cruise on Sunday.
Visitors must purchase a vehicle entry ticket to bring any Mopars to the show. The vehicle registration ticket includes one pass and vehicle entry. Tickets for vehicle entry start at $60, with additional charges to participate in featured events.
Spectator only tickets are also available. General admission is $20, but $10 for children ages 6-12. Kids 5 and younger are free.

Botanic Garden holds final master plan meeting for public
Want a final say in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden’s master plan for development for the next 20 years?
Join the Botanic Garden | Botanical Research Institute of Texas as it holds its last master plan committee meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 31 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The consultant team led by landscape architecture firm Studio Outside will present a final draft of the proposed design.
After the presentation, members of the public will be invited to provide comment in a conversational format or via a written comment card.
The meeting will be held in The Commons room of the BRIT Building, 1700 University Drive.
