EastEnders’ Whitney makes a big decision in early iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow from Wednesday’s episode (May 22) which hasn’t yet aired on BBC One.

EastEnders’ Whitney Dean has made a big decision about her future, in the show’s latest episode.

In yesterday's episode, she ended her relationship with Zack Hudson on their wedding day, following the discovery that he cheated on her with Lauren Branning.

In the latest instalment there was some welcome news for Whitney during a difficult time, as she received Peach’s certificate of baby loss through the post – an overdue recognition that she was pleased about.

Whitney called round to Sharon’s to give Zack the certificate, but despite encouragement from Martin, she confirmed to Zack that things weren’t going to work out between them.

Zack and Whitney went to get Dolly’s birth registered together, and on her return she told her ex, Callum, that it was such a beautiful moment, but she wished things had turned out differently.

When Bianca needlessly picked a fight with Callum and then disapproved over Whitney leaving Dolly with Zack, things were tense between the pair as Whitney dredged up their complicated past.

Whitney later apologised to her step-mum but said that she needed to make her own decisions – including the decision to speak to Lauren.

They met up in The Vic to talk things through properly, and Lauren said that her and Zack’s betrayal was meaningless, explaining that they were both in a bad place at the same time.

However, Whitney said that Lauren was dead to her and there is no way past this for their friendship, even commenting that Lauren was just like her dad, Max.

Their civil conversation descended into an intense row, and Whitney threatened to throw a drink in Lauren’s face before deciding against it (though Bianca was only too happy to do it for her).

When Whitney opened up about her situation to Callum later, he told her that she is strong enough to bring up Dolly on her own and encouraged her to do whatever she wants.

She pondered over things, before returning home to tell Britney and Bianca the big news – she’s going to move away from Walford.

"It could be a fresh start," she said to Britney. "Away from all the mess, just you, me and Dolly. Decision made then. We’re gonna leave Walford for good."

Is this how Whitney will say goodbye to Albert Square, or will there be one final twist?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
