EastEnders star Max Bowden on Peter Beale return – and Ben future

EastEnders star Max Bowden has teased Ben Mitchell's reunion with his nephew Peter Beale.
It was confirmed back in June that Peter would be returning, with Thomas Law taking over the role again.
Thomas played Peter from 2006 and 2010. Peter was then played by Ben Hardy from 2013 to 2015, and Dale Hudson from 2020 to 2022.
Prior to his exit last year, Peter had a major feud with Ben, who had accidentally assaulted him in a case of mistaken identity.
Max shared some early gossip on Ben's reunions with both Peter and Ian – who is also returning – at an exclusive photoshoot for Inside Soap magazine to celebrate EastEnders nominations at this year's Inside Soap Awards.
Max was part of the 'Loving and losing Lola' story, which has been nominated for the Best Storyline, and he is also part of the Mitchells, who are up for Best Family.
Digital Spy was granted exclusive video access to the photoshoot and chatted to each of the cast involved.
"With Ian, Ben was trying to kick his head in the Queen Vic about three weeks before he left, and with Peter, he put his head down a sink," Max said.
"The working and personal dynamic between me and Adam [Woodyatt] has always been brilliant, we have always been good friends and I am looking forward to having it back.
"Tom, who is coming back as Peter, is such a lovely guy. He is a great actor and we have had some scenes together which I have enjoyed a lot. Tom is always learning and making good choices – that is what I like to watch as an actor. "
Max also teased a long road to recovery for Ben, who has an eating disorder.
This week's scenes will see Ben take a major step forward with support from Honey and Kat, but Max has promised that this is not the end of the story.
"He is struggling eternally and physically," Max explained. "I think it's make or break now for Ben now, it's his last chance saloon.
"He becomes more set on getting help thanks to Kat, Callum and Jay eventually as well."
