Eastbound Interstate 80 closure planned for April 17-18 between Waukee and West Des Moines

There will be an overnight closure and detour on eastbound Interstate 80 next week on the western end of the Des Moines metro as crews remove sign trusses.

Eastbound I-80 will be closed — weather permitting — from 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 to 4 a.m. Thursday, April 18, between Grand Prairie Parkway and Jordan Creek Parkway, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.

During the closure, a marked detour will take drivers on a route using Grand Prairie Parkway (exit 118), University Avenue and Jordan Creek Parkway (exit 121).

IDOT asks drivers to proceed with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, stay alert, leave plenty of space between vehicles and wear seat belts. Traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
