Georgians turned out in droves to vote early last week as more than 11,000 voters in Bibb County have cast ballots since Oct. 17.

Bibb County has seen a steady stream of early voters since the polls opened, with more than 1,000 voters a day except Sunday. 11,099 votes were cast as of Monday evening, according to the Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections website.

The county has roughly 115,000 registered voters, according to the county’s Interim Elections Supervisor Thomas Gillon. With a population of 119,000 people of voting age, that’s good for a 96% registration rate.

The numbers from the Secretary of State’s office show that nearly 900,000 early votes have been cast across the state.

Bibb County voters can cast an early ballot at the Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections office on Pio Nono Avenue, the Elaine Lucas Senior Center on Willie Glover Drive or the Theron Ussery Park Community Center on North Macon Park Drive.

All three voting locations are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Only the Pio Nono location is open Sundays, from 1-5 p.m.
