The Dutch Royal Family Gathered for King's Day, the Monarch's National Birthday Celebration

Over the weekend, the royal family of the Netherlands marked King's Day (the annual birthday celebration for King Willem-Alexander) in stylish fashion. The family stepped out for a day of events in Emmen, including traditional dancing, a visit to the local zoo, a performance by an Elvis tribute band, and plenty of games.

For the day, Queen Maxima looked like a pinnacle of spring in a lacy green dress by Natan Couture under a chic white cardigan and her go-to Gianvito Rossi pumps. Of course, the showstopper of her look was the dramatic, custom silk and feather butterfly headpiece by Berry Rutjes, which paid homage to the symbol of Emmen, which is known for its famed butterfly house.

While Willem-Alexander and Maxima maintain a regular roster of public appearances, this year's Kings Day was especially notable because the couple was joined by all three of their daughters for the day.

The eldest of the trio and the Dutch heir apparent, Princess Catharina-Amalia, often simply known as Princess Amalia, wore a teal Max Mara coat borrowed from her mother's closet over a Ba&sh floral maxi dress with Gianvito Rossi pumps and a gilt butterfly hair bauble that gave a nod to her mother's butterfly headband. Princess Alexia made her return to the annual celebration after missing last year's festivities due to her exam schedule at United World College Atlantic in Wales; she wore a cream Sezane dress with buttons at the hip underneath a dark red wrap coat and matching Gianvito Rossi boots. Princess Ariane, who recently celebrated her 17th birthday, wore a smart three-piece suit in a rich rust tone by Weekend Max Mara, including the Veber wool blazer, the Chimera vest, and the Sonale trousers. She proved the Dutch royals's brand loyalty to Gianvito Rossi with a pair of nude boots by the brand, as well as a playful lightning bolt necklace.

Amalia has only recently returned to the Netherlands from studying abroad in Spain after security threats made it difficult for her to live in student housing at the University of Amsterdam. She recently made her first official appearance at a state banquet when her parents hosted the Spanish royals earlier this month.
