Durham eateries fail alcohol compliance checks

May 10—Two Durham eateries failed alcohol compliance checks and two people charged after alcohol was allegedly sold to an underage individual working undercover for state authorities.

The underage volunteer, trained by the New Hampshire Liquor Commission to perform compliance checks, attempted to purchase alcohol from 20 Durham locations on Thursday, according to a news release from Durham police. Wildcat Pizza, 3 Madbury Road, and Tideline Public House, 15 Newmarket Road, failed the checks, officials said.

Employees Marley Gadon, 21, of Bedford, and Michael Otero, 38, of Newmarket, were charged with prohibited sales of alcohol. Both will be arraigned on July 31 at 7th Circuit Court in Dover.

The compliance operation was conducted by Durham police in conjunction with the law enforcement division of the state liquor commission.
