Duquense head coach Keith Dambrot retiring after leading Dukes to first NCAA tournament in 47 years

Keith Dambrot's first NCAA tournament appearance as the head coach at Duquesne will also be his last. The 65-year-old Dambrot is retiring whenever the Dukes' run in March Madness ends.

Dambrot made the announcement on Monday, a day after a 57-51 victory over VCU in the Atlantic 10 tournament final clinched the small Catholic school in downtown Pittsburgh its first NCAA tournament berth since 1977.

“This is it for me,” Dambrot said at a news conference called just hours after the team returned from its successful stay in Brooklyn.

Dambrot is 103-92 at Duquesne and 516-301 overall in the collegiate ranks heading into the 11th-seeded Dukes' (24-11) matchup with sixth-seeded BYU (23-10) on Thursday in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
