Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves is fast becoming the second recent adaptation of a major gaming property to earn rave reviews.

The Last of Us TV series received plaudits aplenty for its adaptation of the video game and now the new movie based on the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game is earning the same level of appreciation.

Honour Among Thieves follows Chris Pine as a thief who embarks on a quest along with several adventurers in order to retrieve a lost relic. However, things head south when they encounter the wrong people in the dangerous world.

Owen Gleiberman of Variety called the film "irresistible," writing: "It’s at once cheesy and charming, synthetic and spectacular, cosily derivative and rambunctiously inventive, a processed piece of junk-culture joy that, by the end, may bring a tear to your eye."

Lovia Gyarkye of The Hollywood Reporter called the film a "buoyant adaptation" and a "jovial adventure", even for RPG novices.
