When a California Highway Patrol officer asked for Pelosi’s license, he also handed the cop an “11-99 Foundation” membership card, police said. The 11-99 Foundation is a fund that has provided $42 million to California Highway Patrol families.

“His eyes appeared red/watery, he was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath,” the officer wrote in the arrest report.

Nancy Pelosi was not in California at the time; she was in Rhode Island to give a commencement speech.

“The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast,” Drew Hammill, Nancy Pelosi’s spokesperson, said at the time.

Paul Pelosi posted bail shortly after his arrest. He will be arraigned Aug. 3.
