Dua Lipa's Latest Mesh Dress and Hot Pink Thong Is a Love Letter to Patrick Star

🎶 Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? 🎶 Dua Lipa — in her completely see-through, crochet mesh dress that pays homage to the world's most beloved starfish, Patrick Star.

ICYMI, the "Sweetest Pie" singer has been a busy gal lately, singing in arenas around the globe on her Future Nostalgia tour, stirring up romance rumors with Trevor Noah, and attending the 2022 Booker Prize for Fiction Award ceremony. Despite the Honorary Ambassador of Kosovo's packed schedule, she still makes time for her fashionista fans on the 'gram. Serving everything from layered graphic button-downs and plunging lace-up tops to pierced (!) UGG boots and satin evening gowns, Dua has proven that her style is extremely ~versatile~. Even so, there is one fabric that Dua favors above the rest — crochet, ofc. Nine times out of ten, you can catch Lipa rocking a custom crochet 'fit that is giving body-ody-ody. Take for example her latest yachting trip in Australia, where she wore a gold mesh cardigan or her foray into the world of teeny string thongkinis. Even when she goes back to her Y2K style roots, Dua returns to her familiar love of crochet, rocking a handmade coverup over top of her noughties sequined snakeskin bikini. Now, Dua is taking crochet into a campy, rave girl-inspired direction with a dress ripped right out of an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Posting up to IG on November 12 with the caption " down undaaaa in bikini bottom ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️," Dua showed off what she wore on a night out in Melbourne. The starfish of her party girl look was obvs the sparkling hot pink mesh dress with Patrick Star nipple covers. A halter neckline, criss-cross back, and high slit added a glam touch to the whimsical look that GCDS sent down the runway at their Spring/Summer 2023 ready-to-wear collection show, alongside other SpongeBob SquarePants designs. For accessories, Dua kept it simple, wearing a bubblegum thong and geometric link earrings. A frosted eyeshadow with chunky star- and heart-shaped sequins on the lid were applied by MUA Shelby Smith. A tucked-behind-the-ear hairdo came courtesy of hairstylist Jake Gallagher. And Dua's shining star manicure painted by nail artist Miss Betty Rose completed the Y2K homage to the cartoon show.
