Dua Lipa to make movie debut in Barbie
Dua Lipa will make her big-screen debut in the Margot Robbie-led Barbie this summer.
Barbie began a marketing blitz today (April 4), as Warner Bros dropped the film's second trailer and a load of character posters showing off the incredibly stacked cast.
While we knew a number of celebs who had been cast in the film, there was a surprise in the announcement that 'One Kiss' and 'Hallucinate' hitmaker Dua is making her acting debut.
She didn't appear in the new trailer, but she did receive her own character poster. It leaves no ambiguity as to who Dua is playing, featuring text that reads: "This Barbie is a mermaid."
And while we don't get to see her fishy tail in the poster, she is sporting long blue hair, which is pretty mermaid-y, isn't it?
Other character posters confirmed Derry Girls' Nicola Coughlan as a diplomat Barbie and Kate McKinnon as a Day-Glo Barbie that loves the splits.
Unsurprisingly, there have been a lot of fan-made spoof versions with other celebs.

The new Barbie trailer features a fair bit of fresh footage but didn't give us a load of plot setup — which is a good thing, by the way — instead showing a lot of tension between Ryan Gosling's 'main' Ken (who's apparently broke) and Simu Liu's more popular version of Ken.
Near the end of the trailer, our main duo (Robbie's Barbie and Gosling's Ken) are seen in a car driving by a sign that points to the 'Real World'. But we don't know if that means that they're aware that they are plastic dolls and they're going to become human, or they remain as dolls in a human world.
We also don't know how long the film will spend in the 'Barbie World' and whether all these actors playing different Kens and Barbies will feature heavily in the movie or just be cameos. Basically, there's a lot of intrigue surrounding Barbie. and we're very into it.
Barbie will be released in cinemas on July 21.
