One of the world’s biggest pop stars is a foodie just like the rest of us.

Dua Lipa, Grammy-award winning singer and songwriter, was this week’s guest on the podcast Dish, where she enjoyed a veggie-packed steak dinner and shared her favorite foods with the hosts and listeners.

“I’m obsessed with food,” the "Houdini" singer exclaims at the start of the episode. “For me, if I can just do little food trips and just go eat and try different things and drink wine, that’s the dream.”

Alongside quick-fire questions about her favorite chips (Walker’s Prawn Cocktail-flavored) and her favorite pasta (spaghetti), the star dished on the foods she incorporates into her routine, including her on-tour eating habits.

With Albanian roots, Lipa is a fan of Mediterranean-style cuisine, and she sticks by plates of meat and vegetables during the tour season. But alongside steak, one of her favorite sources of protein is a plant-based ingredient: lentils, specifically precooked lentils for their convenience.

“I love a lentil,” Lipa admits. “I’m criminal for the packaged ones because it’s just quick.” She goes on to specify that she enjoys them most by adding them to her salads.

Lentils are nutrient-dense, packed with 16 grams of fiber and 18 grams of protein per 1-cup serving. Not only are they a satisfying and filling ingredient you can include in salads, soups and more, but they’re also a budget-friendly option that you can store in your pantry for quick meals. Precooked and raw lentils have the same nutritional value, so if you only have dry lentils on hand, read our guide to cook them perfectly.

Knowing that Lipa is a lentil lover (say that five times fast!), we think she would love our Lentil Salad with Feta, Tomatoes, Cucumbers & Olives where lentils shine as the star of the dish.
