Driver tried to run down giant snowman, didn’t realize its base was a tree trunk
In these wintry times, a cautionary tale of a snowman has produced new a flurry of interest.
In the case from 2019, the tables were turned on a Kentucky driver who tried knocking down a giant snowman, but got the worst of the exchange.
Cody Lutz, along with his fiancée and her sister, built a 9-foot snowman outside his home, using a thick tree trunk as its foundation. According to ABC News, a motorist tried taking down the triple-decker snowman and found out the hard way that stump trumps truck.
“Probably everybody learns a valuable lesson here from Frosty,” laughed Lutz, who said he’s a Buffalo native who knows a thing or two about sturdy snowmen.
The regional incident, started going viral Wednesday after a blizzard of traffic from the popular Kentucky-based web aggregate Fark.com. It resurfaced as wintry weather comes back into season. The Bluegrass State is anticipating snow next week.
All Lutz knew about the hit-and-run is that he went to work on a Monday, then returned home to find tire tracks leading up to the snowman, where the vehicle appeared to have run into the tree trunk and come to a stop. There also appeared to be tracks leading back to the roadway. Other than the snow chipped away from its base, Frosty was still standing tall, under a black top hat that also remained in place.
Lutz and his team said they don’t know who tried to ice Frosty, but that “instant karma” was the end result of those efforts.
“I think he got the last laugh for sure,” Lutz said, pointing to the grinning snowman.
