Driver trapped under hood of truck after plunging down hill in Colorado, police say

Employees heading into work at a Colorado golf course early Tuesday, April 16 were met with the jarring sight of a pickup truck upside down in a field at the bottom of a hill, police said.

The driver was still trapped beneath the hood, Lakewood Police told McClatchy News in an email.

The Fox Hollow Golf Course workers called police at about 6:30 a.m. and rushed to help the driver until paramedics arrived and rushed her to a hospital, detective Robert Albrets said in the email. The golf course is in the Denver metropolitan area.

Investigators determined the truck veered off the road when no one was around to see it, Albrets said. Detectives don’t know what time the crash occurred.

Investigators have not been able to get a statement from the driver and there are no known witnesses, Albrets said. There was no indication of drugs or alcohol contributing to the crash, and the driver has not been cited.

The driver was on her way home from one of two jobs when she crashed and was “found pinned under her truck hours later,” according to an online fundraiser set up by the driver’s friends. She has been in a medically induced coma while awaiting multiple surgeries and won’t be able to work during the months she’ll be recovering, friends said.

“As a vibrant member of our community, (she) brings joy through her beautiful art and clothing creations,” the fundraiser says. “She’s an adventurer who loves to explore and embrace life.”
