Driver killed in single-car crash in Jefferson over weekend

An unidentified driver was killed in a crash on Route 15 in Jefferson early Sunday morning, according to township police.

Officers responded to the single-vehicle crash on the southbound side around 1:25 a.m. near mile marker 3.5, said Jefferson police Capt. Robert Bush in a brief statement. The crash occurred near the four-way intersection of Hawk Drive and Phipps Road, the truck entrance to Picatinny Arsenal.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not immediately provide additional information, including the driver's identity.

The accident remains under investigation.
