Driver dies after stolen SUV crashes into Hamilton yard

Hamilton police are investigating after a male driver died at the scene of an SUV crashing into a residential yard, according to Butler County dispatchers.

Police were just getting out of roll call around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when a man called 911 and reported his blue Honda Pilot was stolen, dispatchers said.

At the same time, other 911 calls reported an SUV had just crashed into a yard on Ross Avenue at South B Street.

Police were first on the scene and found the driver unconscious, according to dispatch.

An officer began life-saving measures on the driver and Hamilton fire crews arrived to assist but he was pronounced dead at the scene, dispatchers said.

Police released a brief statement overnight confirming a fatality at the scene.

Ross Avenue was shut down for several hours overnight between South C and South D streets.

Detectives cleared the scene around 4 a.m. but left orange cones out to block off the sidewalk outside the house.
