Who should be the Driscoll Children's Hospital High School Athlete of the Week?

Several players shined during holiday tournament season and are now finalists for this week's Driscoll Children's Hospital Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week.

The Caller-Times is taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the High School Athlete of the Week each Tuesday.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The poll will close on Thursday and the winners will be announced Friday each week.

Taft's Jordan Villalobos went off in a 54-point outburst in the Greyhounds win against Nordheim.

Aransas Pass' Jocelyn Cole scored 34 points against John Paul II and added two other 20-point outings during the West Oso Tournament.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Monday and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com, by messaging the Caller-Times through its Facebook page, or on Twitter @CallerSports.

This Week's Finalists

• Malachai Calderon, King boys basketball — Calderon led the Mustangs in a non-district game against Sinton with a 28-point effort, including four 3-pointers.

• AC Carpentier, London boys basketball — Carpentier dropped 30 points in a win against Orange Grove, which included five 3-pointers.

•Jocelyn Cole, Aransas Pass girls basketball — Cole scored 34 points, with five 3-pointers in a win against John Paul II in the West Oso Tournament. She also had two other 20-point outings in the tournament.

• Audrey Galindo, Premont girls basketball — Galindo paced the Cowgirls with 39 points (six 3-pointers) in a 70-32 win against Benavides.

• Tanner Martinez, Calallen boys basketball — Martinez poured in 34 points in a 70-67 win against Laredo Harmony for the Wildcats, including seven 3-pointers.

• Alyssa Reyes, Veterans Memorial girls wrestling — Reyes won the 138 lb. division at the Snakebite Invitational improving to 17-2.

• Emma Romanczyk, IWA girls basketball — Romanczyk helped lead the Angels to the SGA Tournament Championship with 24 points in the championship game win against Mathis. She scored 60 points over three games.

• Jordan Villalobos, Taft boys basketball — Villalobos went off for 54 points in a 94-55 non-district victory against Nordheim. His scoring outburst included four from beyond the arc.
