Who should be the Driscoll Children's Hospital High School Athlete of the Week?

Regional track meets and golf tournaments were the highlights last week and several athletes who shined on the biggest stages are finalists for this week's Driscoll Children’s Hospital Caller-Times High School Athlete of the Week.

The Caller-Times is taking weekly nominations and will release a list of finalists for the High School Athlete of the Week each Tuesday.

Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated. The poll will close on Thursday and the winners will be announced Friday each week.

Kingsville's Jasiah Rivera not only doubled in the boys hurdle events, but he set a new school record with a 24-1 ¼ mark in the long jump.

Rockport-Fulton's Hannah Creekmore won the Region IV-4A girls individual title with a two-day total of 134.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Monday and can be submitted through email at ctsports@caller.com, by messaging the Caller-Times through its Facebook page, or on Twitter @CallerSports.

This Week's Finalists

• Trinity Anscombe, Robstown girls track & field — Anscombe won the girls long jump with a Coastal Bend season best mark of 19-feet, 10.5-inches, at the Region IV-4A track meet.

• Braelyn Bailey, Calallen softball — Bailey went 3 for 3 with one home run and one double, bringing home four in a run-rule win against Robstown.

• Hannah Creekmore, Rockport-Fulton girls golf — Creekmore won the Region IV-4A girls individual title with a 66-68—134 over two days in Victoria.

• Nathan Edlin, Ingleside boys track & field — Edlin was the Region IV-4A boys shot put champion with a toss of 55-feet, 4-inches, earning a berth at the UIL State Track Meet.

• Riley Haug, Refugio girls track & field — Haug won the girls 400 and earned bronze in the high jump, also helping the Bobcats claim regional titles in the 400 and 800 relay.

• Brian Rivas Jr., Beeville boys track & field — Rivas finished fourth at the Region IV-4A meet in boys 400 and helped the Trojans 1,600 relay finish sixth.

• Jasiah Rivera, Kingsville boys track & field — Rivera won the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and set a new school record in the long jump (24-feet, 1.25-inches) and finished second to advance to the UIL State Meet in all three events.

• Kieli Saenz, Veterans Memorial girls golf — Saenz finished third in the overall medalist standings, with a two-day total of 145, helping the Eagles finish second as a team at the Region IV-5A golf tournament.
