Drew Barrymore revives Never Been Kissed role for MTV awards
Drew Barrymore has revived her role as Josie Grossie from Never Been Kissed in a sketch for the MTV Awards.
Barrymore appeared in a number of pre-recorded comedy sketches for this ceremony, following the cancellation of the live airing of the show due to the ongoing writers strike in the US.
In her opening sequence, the actress appeared as her character from the 1999 rom-com, searching for her first kiss in several of this years' most popular films and TV shows.

Finding herself in dance offs with Wednesday Adams and robot doll M3GAN before being hit in the face by a football during a Top Gun: Maverick scene, she laments her inability to find a kiss – before finding her happy ever after with the Cocaine Bear.
The hilarious clip sees Barryore's character tackle the bear to the ground while Madonna's 'Like A Prayer' plays in the background.
"Oh my gosh, I feel so alive, like I could take on the world," she yells.
"Because I'm not Josie Grossie anymore!"

Barrymore had originally been set to host the ceremony, later withdrawing in support of the striking Writers Guild of America.
"I have listened to the writers, and in order to truly respect them, I will pivot from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards live in solidarity with the strike," she said in a statement released via Variety.

"Everything we celebrate and honor about movies and television is born out of their creation. And until a solution is reached, I am choosing to wait but I’ll be watching from home and hope you will join me," the actress continued.
"I thank MTV, who has truly been some of the best partners I have ever worked with. And I can't wait to be a part of this next year, when I can truly celebrate everything that MTV has created, which is a show that allows fans to choose who the awards go to and is truly inclusive."
