What records did OKC's Paycom Center break in 2023?

This year, the Paycom Center is coming off a record-breaking 2022, when it hosted 37 concerts, the most concert events to ever play the facility in a year.

That smashed the arena's previous record of 29 concerts in a year, which was set in 2013.

A venue spokeswoman said Paycom Center hasn't hosted as many concerts in 2023 because of summer construction projects to install new scoreboards and seats in the arena.

By the end of the year, the venue will have hosted 52 touring events, including 29 concert events.

Also home to the OKC Thunder professional basketball team, the arena, which opened in 2002, still managed to set a couple of records for touring events this year:

  • In January, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle's sold-out stand-up show became what's believed to be the largest comedy show in the state, with nearly 17,000 tickets sold. That also landed the show on the list of the top 10 highest attended concert events in the arena's 21-year history.

  • In May, Paycom Center broke its record for largest Latin concert in venue history when Grupe Firme brought in more than 6,000 fans, becoming the best-selling and highest-grossing Latin music event for the arena to date.

  • The venue quickly broke that record for its biggest Latin concert again just a few weeks ago, when Luis Miguel drew just over 10,500 fans to Paycom Center.

What touring events are still to come at OKC's Paycom Center in 2023?

From holiday favorites Trans-Siberian Orchestra to iconic comedian Adam Sandler, several touring acts are still due to make stops at OKC's Paycom Center in 2023:

  • Nov. 18-19: Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party

  • Nov. 24: Rod Wave "The Nostalgia Tour" with with special guests Ari Lennox, Toosii and Eelmatic

  • Dec. 2: Cody Johnson

  • Dec. 7: Trans-Siberian Orchestra

  • Dec. 9: Adam Sandler

  • Dec. 15-17: Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey: "The Greatest Show on Earth"

  • Dec. 20: AEW (All Elite Wrestling) with Dynamite and Rampage

  • Dec. 28:Jeff Dunham

On Dec. 12, Oklahoma City voters will go to the polls to vote on a temporary one-cent sales tax to fund the construction of a new arena, expected to be built at a minimum cost of $900 million. The temporary tax would begin after the similar MAPS 4 penny tax ends in 2028 — so it is not expected to raise taxes — and last for six years
