Dragon Quest Builders Is Coming To PC After 8 Years

Dragon Quest has been on a roll lately, with two hit games – Treasures and Monsters: The Dark Prince – coming out in the last twelve months or so. The next release in the Dragon Quest series is a little bit of a weird one… because it came out eight years ago.

Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest Builders is coming to PC via Steam next month. You know, the game that originally launched on PS4 all the way back in 2016. The game is set to be released on February 13, 2024, about two weeks from now, and will cost $27.99 — a very reasonable price, all things considered.

Dragon Quest Builders is a bit of a strange game, being somewhat of an action game like Dragon Quest Treasures but with some crafting and building elements, very much like Minecraft. It’s also a little bit frustrating since you need to give up most of your progress between chapters, but that’s neither here nor there.

The Steam version of Dragon Quest Builders will include the additional Terra Incognita features that were added to the mobile version of the game, which includes improved crafting features, backported features from Dragon Quest Builders 2, and a magic carpet, which lets them fly. Most of these features were added for free for other versions of the game, but they’ll be free here, which is nice.

As for why it’s taken eight years for the game to come to PC, Square doesn’t say. Dragon Quest Builders 2 came to PC shortly after its console release, so it’s not as if the company is opposed to these games coming to PC, it just never brought the first game over.
