Dozens of flights delayed, canceled at RDU ahead of storms. Here’s what to know.

Ahead of the severe thunderstorms forecast for the Triangle and central North Caroling on Monday, several flights have been canceled or delayed at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

As of 4:50 p.m., there were 23 cancellations and eight delays affecting RDU.

The impacted flights are from Frontier, Spirit, Breeze Airways, Air Canada, United Airlines, Delta, Jetblue, Southwest, and American Airlines have delays or cancellations with planes headed to New Jersey, New York, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Phoenix, Detroit, Denver, Florida, Texas, Maryland and Canada.

Thousands of flights have been canceled Monday afternoon due to severe weather nationwide.

There were more than 300 delayed flights at Charlotte Douglas International Airport and 47 cancellations Monday afternoon.

The Federal Aviation Administration said low clouds and thunderstorms were impacting flight travel.
