It's a Double Steal! Who Went Home and Who Made It Through Tonight on 'The Voice' Knockout Rounds

Mara Justine, Kaylee Shimizu, Caleb Sasser

Night one of The Voice season 24 Knockout Rounds featured sing-offs from Teams John Legend, Gwen Stefani, Reba McEntire and Niall Horan, who were joined by Wynonna Judd as this season’s Mega Mentor to help prepare the artists for the Knockouts.

This year’s Knockouts are three-ways with each of the artists picking their own songs, and each coach can only put through one of their artists. That said, they each have a Steal and a Save.

The winners of the Knockout Rounds will move on to the Playoffs.

Alison: “It’s Too Late” by Carole King
Jacquie:
“Girl” by Maren Morris

But it wasn’t over. Reba hit her Save button for Tom and Gwen hit her Steal button for Tom and he chose to stay with Reba.

Reba said, “Tom, when I first heard you, I turned my chair because I heard that specialness in your voice. And now to get to know you and watch you perform; it’s a complete package and I would love to keep you on my team.” After he chose her, Reba said, “I had method to my madness. I knew I wanted Jacquie, but I also wanted Tom and Gwen tried to Steal Tom. He’s got so much soul to go with the country, it makes it a perfect marriage. He’s a great singer.”

Knockout Round No. 2: Caleb Sasser vs Kaylee Shimizu vs Mara Justine from Team Legend

Songs:

Kaylee: “Ain't No Way” by Aretha Franklin
Caleb:
“Jealous” by Nick Jonas
Mara:
“Without You” by Harry Nilsson, the Mariah Carey version

Winner: Kaylee Shimizu

John said: “Kaylee is one of the most gifted vocalists I have ever been around. She is 17 years old, she can do so many amazing things with her voice, she has to stay on the show.

Steal: Mara Justine

Both Gwen and Niall hit their Steal buttons for Mara.

Gwen said, “Mara, it’s obvious that you need to come home to Team Gwen. I am actually feeling nervous right now because I’m feeling passionate about you. There’s so many people who can sing amazing, but there’s not a lot of people who can connect with people through their own originality. I am not an actress. This is my real heart talking to you, so I would love to have you on Team Gwen."

Niall said: “Mara, from day one, maybe apart from one other, my favorite audition. I never forgot it. John will tell you that I hounded him with text messages saying, ‘I’m going to get you back for this.’ When I think about who’s great on The Voice this season, you’re the first one who comes to mind.”

Tune in Tuesday night at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC to find out who Mara chooses as her new coach.
